Bagni di San Filippo

It is a pleasant walk which leads you throught the woods and keeping sure to follow the flow of the sulphur laden waters, a streamlike flow which is not always respected by passers-by. The vision which greets one’s eyes is of an unusual and fascinating beauty. The blocks of limestone which stand above the stream take on a veneer which passes from different shades of green to red and is a delight to see.

The most impactful part is certainly that which has taken on the name of La cascata della Balena Bianca. It is well worthwhile to visit this sculpture like show. Highly recommended to visit early of a morning before the masses arrive to take advantage of the natural pools – they unfortunately not adverse to causing damage to the splendid natural forms.

Water

Vivo d'Orcia

There are no doubts that San Francesco spent much time here in Val d'Orcia. We wonder if the miraculous qualities of the water here is somehow connected to this fact!
